Mjölnir, Mjolnir, Thors Hammer, Viking Mythology, Heathen, Repton Hammer Pendant

The Repton Hammer, so called because it was found at Repton, was found buried with its owner. Archaeologist think that the owner was probably a warrior with the Great Heathen army who camped there over the winter of 874, having previously conquered Northumbria and Mercia. It was found still hung around it's owners neck.

This is a gold gilded pewter version of the Repton Hammer. Gilding, or gold plating, was carried out on many jewellery items in the Viking age, using the mercury gilding process. This piece has a 1 micron thick layer of gold, plated over pewter, to give an attractive representation of what some of these Viking age pieces may have looked like when they were first made. The hammer is cast by our supplier in Scotland, UK.

Also featuring natural tigers eye and lava stone.

A stone of protection, Tiger Eye may also bring good luck to the wearer.  It has the power to focus the mind, promoting mental clarity, assisting us to resolve problems objectively and unclouded by emotions.

Lava Stone is a grounding stone that strengthens one's connection to Mother Earth. It gives us strength and courage, allowing us stability through times of change.  It provides guidance and understanding in situations where we may need to "bounce back". A calming stone, it is very useful in dissipating anger.

This pendant comes strung on flexible strong nylon coated gold plated stainless steel bead wire featuring 10mm natural black lava stone beads, 10mm natural tigers eye beads, tibetan alloy antique bronze spacer beads, including 2 embossed with a triquetra and 8mm natural matte black agate beads with a lobster claw fastening.
